What a tradie website needs to get the phone ringing in Melbourne
Plumbers, sparkies, builders and landscapers: your website has one job. Here’s how to make it bring in calls and quote requests, not just look nice.

Your website has one job
For a tradie, a website isn’t a brochure. It’s a lead machine. Someone has a burst pipe, a dodgy switchboard or a deck that needs replacing, and they want to know three things fast: do you do this, do you service my area, and can I trust you?
Answer those quickly and the phone rings.
Make calling you effortless
Most people looking for a tradie are on their phone, often in a hurry.
- Put your phone number in the header as a tap-to-call button
- Keep it visible as people scroll
- Add a short quote form for people who’d rather not call
- If you offer emergency call-outs, say so loudly
Show where you work
Melbourne is big, and people want to know you’ll come to them. List the suburbs and regions you service on your website and in your Google Business Profile. Group them by area if the list is long, like inner north, eastern suburbs or Mornington Peninsula.
Build trust fast
People are inviting you into their homes. Show them they can trust you:
- Your licence or registration details, where they apply to your trade
- Insurance and any warranties you offer
- Real photos of your work, your team and your vehicles
- Reviews from real customers, ideally mentioning the type of job
- Industry association memberships
Stock photos of smiling models in hard hats do the opposite. Real photos win every time.
One page per service
Create a page for each main service you offer, like hot water systems, blocked drains or switchboard upgrades. Explain what’s involved, common questions and how to book. This helps customers find exactly what they need and gives Google a specific page to show for each search.
Show your work
A simple gallery or project section with before and after photos is one of the most persuasive things on a tradie website. Add a sentence or two about the job and the suburb it was in. It builds trust and helps with local search.
Keep it fast
Many of your visitors are on mobile data, sometimes standing next to the problem. A slow site loses jobs. Compress photos, avoid heavy add-ons and test your site on an ordinary phone.
Don’t forget Google Maps
For most trades, the map results bring in more calls than anything else. Keep your Google Business Profile complete, add job photos regularly and ask every happy customer for a review.
The quick checklist
- Tap-to-call phone number in the header
- Short quote form
- Suburbs and regions you service
- Licence, insurance and warranties
- Real photos and genuine reviews
- One page per service
- Fast on mobile
- Google Business Profile up to date
